Surfers will tell you: the location of this hotel is impossible to beat. It's situated right at the surf point, at the longest lefthand break in Bali, and you simply need to step onto your balcony to check the conditions. Bombora a brand-new hotel owned by a surfer and created for surfers, and anyone who loves to be right on the ocean.

What's the appeal?

Location, location, location. And luxury – Bombora is the first luxury hotel in Medewi. Most of the rooms have a sea view (you'll pay more for these) and look out onto Medewi bay, while the view from the rim-flow swimming pool and restaurant allows you to take in all the surf action.

Rooms

The rooms at Bombora are tastefully decorated and, as you'd imagine, the decor is ocean inspired so there's a lot of natural beachy colours and textures, with pops of turquoise. All rooms are very clean in design, have custom-made baths (except the entry-level room, which tends to be a bit dark), rain showers, and a lounge area and veranda space. The beds are exceptionally comfortable – although it feels strange that they face onto a wall of the room (and flat-screen telly) rather than out towards the view. Each room has an exercise ball as well as yoga mats and straps.

Facilities

The rim-flow pool and sun loungers, which offer phenomenal views across the waves, are for guests only and a fantastic place to while away time between surf sessions. The menu at the restaurant, which also offers sea views, changes regularly and offers excellent fare, including sushi and good cappuccino (both of which are almost impossible to find anywhere else in Medewi).

Location

Bombora is located at the surf point in Medewi and if you're a surfer looking for luxury accommodation, you really can't do better than this. A few restaurants are a short stroll away, as are surf shacks (where you can hire boards and arrange surf lessons) and the women offering massages.
