Harris Surf Villa is a hidden gem in the heart of a small community on the coastal side of the main road in Pulukan. It is just a stone’s throw from Medewi and within a gentle stroll of some of the prettiest paddy landscapes you’re ever likely to see. The two rooms are normally rented separately but a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious walled garden and private parking make this property ideally suited to a family or small group getaway. Harris and Hety speak excellent English and – as members of one of Medewi’s big families – are knowledgeable and helpful advisers when it comes to activities and excursions.

What's the appeal?

 

With surf boards mounted on the walls (and others in racks ready for loan/rent) there’s no mistaking the fact that this property was designed as a surf hangout. There’s more to the appeal of Harris Surf Villa than just this, however: for anyone with an interest in photography (or just a taste for the pristine beauty of Balinese landscapes) a gentle wander through the paddies to the wonderfully friendly little community Kampong Loji, just 1km away, is an unforgettable experience. Less than 2km from the property you can find yourself walking on a wild beach that is the setting for three uncrowded (usually deserted) surf-spots that offer an alternative to Medewi’s famous pointbreak. This is the perfect refuge if you appreciate a little island-style country-life along with your surf sessions.

Rooms

 

There are two extremely spacious rooms – a double and a twin. They are comfortable and clean and both are airconditioned (but without fan or TV) and equipped with nicely designed en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Both rooms have large sliding doors that open onto a small private terrace. The nightly rate includes breakfast, including tea or coffee and normally a choice of either toasted sandwiches or pancakes.

Facilities

 

It’s the fully equipped kitchen with a bar and spacious dining room that makes this property special. While most guests rent just one room, Harris Surf Villa would be a perfect option for a small group of friends or a small family (an extra mattress can be added). The option of renting both rooms and treating this property as a private villa would make for unbeatable value. Harris Surf Villa has good wifi. Scooter rental, transport and massages can be arranged.

Location

 

Harris Surf Villa is located about 100m south of the main road in the village of Pulukan, a three-minute drive (or 15-minute walk) to Medewi. There are several grocery shops, fruit and veg stalls and eateries within a short walk of the property. A good surfing wave (a virtual "secret spot") is about 1.5km away.
