Things to do in Balian

Relax a few days

Balian's a great spot to enjoy some down-time. Catch up on some reading, indulge in a few massages, work on your tan...

Go surfing

Balian's a popular spot for people who're wanting to get away from the crowds in east Bali, and the water's often quite quiet here. Boards are available for rent near the beach and you can take surf lessons too.

Two yoga classes are held each day in this gorgeous beachfront shala at Pondok Pitaya. Classes cost Rp125,000 each and you'll need to check times with the hotel's reception desk. Mats and blocks are provided.

Sushi with a view

Right at the bottom of the hill at Balian, Sushi Surf is a chilled, breezy cafe that overlooks the waves and serves excellent sushi, smoothies and juices, healthy breakfast and a range of cocktails.

Spend a day in Medewi

Surf Bali's longest left; indulge in one of the best massages you'll have on this island; order and simple Indonesian lunch (almost) under the canopy of a sacred tree; walk to a waterfall; watch all the surf action from the point.
