– Pemuteran
Kayak

the mangrove-fringed Bay of Sumberkima, close to Pemuteran. Metaformosa, an NGO that operates in the area, runs kayaking trips here.

– Medewi

Walk

along a black-sand beach with three of West Bali's last pink buffaloes, and explore carefully tended beachfront paddies, where you'll learn about the rice-farming traditions of West Bali.

– Balian

Yoga

classes are usually held twice a day in Balian, and there are some beautiful shalas around this village.

– Pemuteran
Dive

the chain of reefs around Pemuteran. There is plenty to see (and – bonus – prices are relatively low), and the exquisite sites around Menjangan Island are close by, too.

– West Bali National Park

Trek,

cycle or do a birding tour in West Bali National Park (with a guide). There is a chance you'll see the rare Balinese black monkeys and  menjangan deer.

– Pemuteran
Snorkel

from the beach in Pemuteran, or take a boat to one of the off-shore sites. You can rent snorkelling gear by the day from many dive operators around the village.

– Balian

Surf

a wonderfully wild beach break at Balian. There are a few hillside restaurants and warungs that have uninterrupted views over the ocean, too.

– Medewi

Walk

down to the bottom of Juwuk Manis, West Bali's pretty twin waterfalls. You can swim in the pool at the base of the falls, too.

– Pemuteran

Yoga

classes are held at 7.30am every day at Sumberkima Hill, a 10-minute drive from Pemuteran. Stay for a smoothie bowl or healthy breakfast at the retreat's restaurant after class.

– Menjangan

Snorkel

the spectacular reefs around Menjangan Island, which carries the reputation of being the best snorkelling location in Bali.

– Medewi

Yoga

classes are held in various locations around Medewi – from a riverside shala to one with a sea view. Beautiful places to unwind.

– Pemuteran

Walk

up Bukit Kursi at sunrise and you'll be rewarded with the most beautiful views across Pemuteran. It's an easy walk – one you can do in flipflops.

– Medewi

Wander

along the road that winds through the pretty paddies of Pulukan. You might encounter duck herders and, early morning or late afternoon, you might see the volcanoes of Java in the distance.
