Menjangan Dynasty is a tropical resort with a safari vibe. Or perhaps you could say it's a safari-style resort with a tropical vibe... Whichever way you look at it, one thing is certain: with the luxury tented accommodation (styled on African safari camps) and its location on the fringe of West Bali National Park, Menjangan Dynasty Resort is quite unlike any other resort on Bali.

What's the appeal?

 

The resort wraps around an elbow of land that juts into the calm Banyuwedang Bay. It offers views across the bay and, easily seen in the very late afternoons, the distant volcanoes of Java. The lobby and restaurant areas are impressive bamboo structures and the accommodation has been styled on luxurious African safari camps. It's a beautiful setting made all the more intriguing by the tented accommodation and infinity pool, and those who're wanting to up their Instagram game will have a field day here.

Rooms

 

There is a variety of rooms – we should actually say tents – here. The decor is lovely – all natural tones and safari-style accents – and this is carried out throughout the property. The standard rooms have a balcony with comfortable outdoor seating; the bathroom is inside the tent (if you prefer privacy from your travel partner while using the bathroom, take note). There are also one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas, which open onto their own private infinity pools (and – bonus – the bathrooms are further from the sleeping area).

Facilities

 

There is a beautiful infinity pool that's flanked by lounge "booths" and sun beds, and which overlooks the bay. Down on the beach, in front of the restaurant, there are cabanas where you can while away the day, or enjoy a drink or meal from the restaurant. It's a beautiful spot for sundowners. 

The spa at Menjangan Dynasty is gorgeous: from the bliss of your massage bed, the "pedicure deck"  or a curvy flower-filled bath you look out onto the bay and mangrove trees.  Treatments on the menu include massages, manis and pedis, as well as body scrubs and facials.

The dive centre at the resort can arrange various dive and snorkel trips as well as glass-bottomed kayaking, mangrove tour, and trekking in the West Bali National Park.

Location

 

Menjangan Dynasty Resort is on the edge of Banyuwedang Bay, close to the border of West Bali National Park. Apart from what's offered at the spa and dive centre there isn't much else do do in the immediate area (although you could do the national park on your own) – so this is a great place to come to if you'd like to kick back, relax and enjoy what's on offer at the resort.
